INTEGRITY IS DOING THE RIGHT THING. EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING.

Stetson College of Law Information Services
St. Petersburg, Florida

For their new Information Services building, Stetson College of Law in St. Petersburg knew they wanted to pay tribute to the glory of the original 1926 Rolyat Hotel where the campus is located and an era when Babe Ruth, Bobby Jones, Cornelius Vanderbilt III, and Daniel Guggenheim - among other celebrities - frequented the hotel. In this 100,000 square foot state of the art facility that houses over 400,000 volumes in rolling stacks, Mediterranean Revival details include a color palette derived from the era and a lobby floor and elevator lobby that includes more than 60 different glazed tiles, as well as column capitals painstakingly hand-painted by Charles Canerday, the building's architect, and artist BJ Canerday.
The study carrels and stacks end panels were custom designed to capture the essence of wrought iron railings used in the lobby area. Students were provided with lounge and reading areas, expanded stacks, seminar rooms as well as private and team work rooms. Security features within the design eased the burden of constant oversight by the library staff for loss prevention.
